GENERAL FAQs

How old does my dog have to be to go to doggy daycare or be boarded?

Puppies must be 16 weeks old and fully vaccinated.

Can I call and ask about my pet?

Absolutely! Give us a call or text at (630)457-5583, or email us at hello@boomersbeachgeneva.com and we would be happy to give you a report!
What vaccines are required?
We require all dogs to be current on their Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper, plus a negative fecal exam once a year for boarding and daycare. Vaccines must be on their vet's letterhead. Vaccine records can be sent to hello@boomersbeachgeneva.com.
Proof of up-to-date vaccinations not received at least 24 hours before the daycare or boarding reservation will result in a cancellation of the reservation.

The oral and intranasal forms of the Bordetella vaccine are the most effective, however they contain a live virus which has been shown to shed for a period of time after receiving. For that reason, dogs who have received the intranasal or oral vaccine must have received it at least 2 weeks prior to attending daycare or boarding. If vaccination must be done within 7 days of a reservation, Boomer’s Beach will only accept dogs who have received the injected (killed virus) version of the vaccine.

Do you offer grooming?
We do not offer full grooming, but we do offer baths, nail trims, and sani-trims.
Call or text us to set up an appointment, or create an account on our customer portal.
Current Rabies, Bordetella, and Distemper is needed for baths/grooming appointments.

If my pet is on medication, do I need to pay extra for you to administer it?
No, there is no additional charge for giving medicine, however we will not be able to administer injections.

Can I tour the facility?
We are unable to give tours due to the disruption and stress it can cause for our dogs, but you are welcome to come in anytime during our business hours to see our facility from the lobby and to learn more about what we do!

Can you call my vet to send over records?
Yes, if we have your permission, we can call your vet to get your dog's vaccination records. Some vetererinarians require a signed waiver to send out vaccine records.

If I have more than one dog can they stay in the same suite?
Yes, furry family members can stay in the same suite. Multi-dog discounts are applied (discount does not apply for separate crates) if they sleep in the same suite.

Can I fill out paperwork in advance?
Yes! Our new customer portal allows for online booking and daycare requests, along with filling out our forms and waivers.

Do you offer a webcam option?
No, we don't. However, we do have cameras on site for 24/7 surveillance. We do offer photos through our app so you can see your fur baby while they're enjoying their vacation, and of course you can always call or text to see how they're doing!

Do you take dogs in heat?
No, we do not take dogs in heat, or within 2 weeks before or after.

Does my dog have to be neutered/spayed?
Yes, we require dogs to be neutered or spayed by 12 months of age. Those who are younger than 12 months that are still in-tact may require day boarding with us instead of daycare with other dogs.

How common is Canine Cough in a daycare or boarding setting?
It's hard to say because it depends on many factors! However, we take every precaution to manage the risk though our cleaning, ventilation, and health and safety procedures. Dogs socializing in any environment outside of the home, including but not limited to veterinary offices, training classes, grooming salons, pet stores, and walking trails can contract transferable infections from other dogs. It is still possible for dogs to contract a strain of bordetella or other infectious disease, such as flu, even when fully vaccinated. Canine cough and other illnesses can have an incubation period of 3-14 days in which dogs can actively and unknowingly spread the illness without symptoms.
There have also been cases and studies of shedding the live virus after certain vaccines, which is why we require at least the intranasal form (live vaccine) be received at least 2 weeks prior to daycare or boarding, and that if a bordetella vaccination must be done within 7 days of a reservation, Boomer’s Beach will only accept dogs who have received the injected (killed virus) version of the vaccine. Keep in mind that the intranasal version takes 48 for immunity to kick in, and the injected vaccine typically takes 7 days to be protected.

Because other illnesses, such as influenza, can cause respiratory symptoms in dogs, we recommend (but do not require) influenza vaccines in addition to the bordetella vaccine. There are many strains of bordetella and flu, so getting both types of vaccines may be beneficial in preventing canine cough/respiratory illness.
